You Shouldn’t Have to Go At It Alone

Everyone knows that hands-on experiences are important in preparing you for your first job after college. And, while internships and practical experiences are technically available to any student at any university, most college paths leave it up to you to do the legwork of finding the right opportunity and making sure it fits your schedule. Not to mention you’ll probably have to spend time traveling to and from an off-campus location to complete the work.

Many college students find themselves struggling to get even one relevant internship that fits their career path, while also worrying about how to make it fit into their busy schedule.

That’s why, at BU@NMC, we’ve integrated practical training right into the program:

  • You don’t have to go out and find an internship or practicum - we have one for you right here.

  • You don’t have to worry about it being relevant to your field - we help you build an experience that fits your major.

  • You don’t have to make it fit your schedule - we already have time set aside during the week.

  • You don’t have to travel a long way to and from a different location - it’s all right here on the NMC campus or close by in Nappanee.

Relevant Career Preparation that Starts Right Away

Starting freshman year, we’ll immediately immerse you in a learning environment directly related to your major. And, instead of just doing busy work or making trips to the local coffee shop for your boss, you’ll begin to carry a workload similar to what you’d have in the workforce. You’ll get relevant, real-world experiences that will build your resume, help you know if you are pursuing the right career path and give you a smooth college-to-work transition after you graduate.

Get hands-on experience in your first semester.

Sometimes you get even more out of practicum than you ever expected. That's what happened for Tabby when she  took the practicum course at BU@NMC. She was surprised to find out that her natural gifting in ministry lies in management and oversight of the logistical details that are so necessary in the daily process of youth ministry.

Impact lives as you explore your calling.

When you attend BU@NMC, you'll be placed in environments that help you see the growth potential you have. Bryce started his practicum journey with a passion for serving others and has now seen the positive impact that leading a worship team has had on the middle school students at his local church.

Build an experience shaped around your passions.

Ellen came into BU@NMC with a previously discovered passion to help those with disabilities. She wanted to continue that passion at BU@NMC. She was able to utilize her practicum experience to lean in even further into the opportunities in front of her to impact the community and grow her skills along the way.
